As in many cases, I started with sort of a template. This octogon shape gives me the angles that I need to create a 3-dimensional piece.

I started by cutting each piece and then soldering a strip together. The I added another strip to that first strip using the template to attach them at the correct angle. Next I made another pair of strips in the same way and attched all four strips together with the template again. The weights hold the parts together at the correct angle again.

Then I made another set of four strips and soldered it all together. Then I added an attachment ring near the top so it was balanced and could have the fishing spinner attached. I hadn't done any stained glass work in quite a while and I can see that the soldering work is a bit sloppy. Anyway, the top picture is the final result.
