Here is the critter that is my starting point. Cute little rascal, isn't she?
I thought about using this as my example but I thought that might give these little guys a worse rap than they already have.
As usual, here is the shot with grid overlaid. You can see, she is around four feet tall. This is a common size because styrofoam sheets are 4x8 so I can get four layers out of one sheet.
This is a typical styrofoam project where I cut out one profile view, use that as a template, cut out the others and glue them all together. Then I rough cut away the excess and vacuum/scrape away the rest to create the 3-D form. Then I added paint but no hypertufa covering.
The weather was nice enough that I could do all this work in my shed/workshop. I'll show you a bit more of that later.
This is front view of the final product. I created the apron from a T-shirt I use to have because I thought it was very appropriate.
Ellie will be described next and is placed behind Squirrley. She is facing Boo Boo and Touchy is about 15-feet to her left. When I was talking about Toucky, I mentioned she was originally in a crab apple tree that was dying. You can see that on the right edge of this picture. You'll see that in various stages of death in future pictures. The green "head" near the bottom of the picture is to ward of evil critters from the garden. I created several of these and have them scattered around some of my other gardens.
