Out of curiosity one year, I wanted to see how cold it could be and still be able to run the fountain. Answer: about 29 degrees. After that, lots of stuff starts freezing.
While it did answer my question, it was still a big mistake. That was COLD getting in there and removing the pump from the fountain and pulling everything out. Won't do that again. I do have a pondless waterfall just off the concrete patio that I can keep running throughout the entire winter so the birds still have running water. I also have a heated birdbath. The raccons like to wash their feet in it so I do have to clean it frequently. Bummer.
